CHIEF GEOLOGIST (Underground)

The duties of the Chief Geologist (underground) are exercised under the authority of the Site Manager. Based at the Lake Windfall’s advanced exploration project, he will be working on a 15/13 schedule, fifteen days of work, thirteen days off.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate, supervise and direct pre-approved work programs;
  • Supervise, train and assist the mining geology team and production team (geologists and technicians) in tasks such as mapping, sampling and grade reconciliation;
  • Participate in daily, weekly and monthly meetings with Operations and the Geology / Engineering Department;
  • Integrate geological information collected underground, collaborate on 3D modeling and update engineering plans;
  • Assist in the development of definition and exploration drilling campaigns, including drilling planning, assign priorities and targets, define constraints and describe drill holes;
  • Make weekly and bi-weekly reports to management on the progress of work and results achieved;
  • Participate in the drafting of technical reports for the company, partners or the Ministry of Natural Resources based on the compilation and interpretation of data collected on the field;
  • Prepare technical specifications and specifications of the contracts to be awarded by call for tenders;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations (Environmental Quality Act, Mining Act, Directive 019, etc.);
  • Ensure compliance with regards to health and safety standards as well as accident prevention and implement of corrective measures;
  • Establish excellent relations between the Aboriginal communities, various business partners of the company and its team;
  • Ensure that field work is carried out in accordance with operational guidelines (E3, partner guidelines) and government laws (mining, forestry, environment, C.S.S.T., municipalities and M.R.C.);
  • Any other relevant task that will make the project successful.

Education and training:

  • Have a university degree in geology or geological engineering;
  • Be a member of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec;
  • Hold a valid explosives license and Class 5 driver’s license;
  • Have successfully completed the 1-2-3-4-5 and 7 mining modules.

Technical skills

  • Have 10 years of experience in underground mining including mapping, production monitoring and reconciliation;
  • 2 years for supervising experience;
  • Mastering the spoken and written English language is an asset;
  • Mastering the Microsoft Office suite and specialized software such as Datamine, Autocad, Promine is an asset;
  • Have good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites.

Basic skills

  • Be an excellent team player, tactful and politically savvy;
  • Have good adaptability and be open to constructive changes and comments;
  • Have a good sense of organization and a good ability to recognize priorities;
  • Be autonomous, possess initiative and be able to juggle with multiple files/matters simultaneously;
  • Be rigorous and demonstrate ethics and integrity.

SURFACE SERVICES SUPERVISOR

The duties of the Surface Services Supervisor are exercised under the authority of the Mine Projects Superintendent. The Surface Supervisor will assist the Mine Project Superintendent in his/her duties and responsibilities. Based at the Windfall Lake Advanced Exploration Project, he/she will be required to work on an 8/6 schedule, eight days of work, 6 days off.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all roads on the Windfall project site including diamond drill paths when required as well as access roads to the site;
  • Snow plowing at the Windfall site and forest access roads;
  • On-site excavation and road construction, basin and leaching field;
  • Install and maintain buildings on the site including electricity (generators) and plumbing;
  • Responsible for surface contractors for excavation, crushing, electrical, plumbing as well as deforestation contractor for

roads or construction;

  • Repair roads, bridges and road signs on the access road to Windfall;
  • Manage the construction of waterproofed dumps;
  • Repair and maintain basins for the treatment of mine water;
  • Install and maintain drinking water systems;
  • Supervise Osisko’s carpenters and mechanics at the Windfall site;
  • Estimate costs and respect budgets;
  • Write applicable daily reports, monthly reports and associated variances;
  • Any other related tasks that will make the project a success.

Education and training :

  • Have a degree in a relevant discipline. The diploma could be compensated by an experience;
  • Hold a valid explosives license and Class 5 driver’s license;
  • Have successfully completed the 1-2-3-4-5 and 7 mining modules.

Technical skills:

  • Have 10 years of experience in mining or mineral exploration;
  • Have experience in the field of construction sites as well as in the mining field
  • Have good knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites;
  • Have good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite software;
  • Experience working with First Nations is an asset;
  • Knowing the different processes according to the standards of the profession.
