Position: Project Manager and Geoscientist
Reporting to the VP Exploration Canada, the Project Manager and Geoscientist will primarily be responsible for all matters regarding the management of all technical programs, database management, the integrity of geological data, and advancement of the Garrison Project through feasibility and possibly construction. The detailed duties and responsibilities are listed below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sign off and assist with the efficient planning of all drill and exploration programs. Plan the logistics for, participate in, supervise and direct the approved programs. Responsible for the constant improvement of geological interpretations and models, including keeping all sections, plans, and models up to date. Ensure the update of relevant geoscience information on the Corporation’s database. Ensure that the groundwork is conducted in compliance with applicable rules and regulations (environmental laws, mining law, forestry, local laws etc.). Establish strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, business partners of the Corporation and your team. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards and the prevention of accidents and implement corrective measures. Share new concepts or significant information acquired during trips, seminars, forums, etc. Prepare technical specifications and technical aspects relating to contracts to be awarded by tender. Report regularly to Management on work progress and results, including more specifically prepare summary descriptions of ongoing results of drilling campaigns. Ensure compliance with cost codification and approve timesheets, travel expenses of staff under your authority and suppliers’ in Mentoring, training & professional development of Osisko’s geoscientists. Provide training in all aspects of core logging and mineral recognition, geological mapping including structural mapping, modeling and interpretation, fundamentals and execution of exploration techniques. Educate other non-geology staff members on the important aspects of geology and exploration to Osisko’s objectives and operations. Assist with third-party evaluations. Coordinate with external research groups with work as it pertains to or is of interest to Osisko. Assist the Executive Management team with presenting or marketing geological aspects of Osisko’s projects. Work with management in the development of mid to long-term operations and project development plans. Participate as required in the drafting of press releases.
Requirements for the Position
MSc level education in geology with a focus in mineralogy and geochemistry. At least 10 years of exploration experience including at least 5 with a multinational miner exploring for gold. In-depth knowledge and extensive experience with mineralizing and alteration systems. Extensive experience with design and implementation/management of exploration programs including drill programs. Extensive multi-country and multi-deposit type experience in mineral property reviews and evaluations. Involved in a resource discovery. Strong computer skills with a focus on programs used in support of mineral exploration and evaluation (preferably ArcGIS, ioGAS, MapInfo, Encom Discover, Century Systems Geochem Data Suite, and LeapFrog). Willing to travel between the Garrison Field and Toronto Offices. Occasional international travel may be required to conduct third-party field reviews.
