The claims are located in the central and eastern part of the Urban Barry Greenstone Belt. The project comprises more than 70,000Ha in a prospective exhalative terrain. The main focus of our exploration will be the search for gold-rich VMS deposits (Busquet type).
The Urban-Barry Greenstone Belt is in the eastern part of the Abitibi Subprovince and is an Archean volcano-sedimentary sequence. Rock units include deformed (and metamorphosed to greenschist) basaltic flows intercalated with felsic rhyolitic to mafic andesitic volcaniclastic rocks, intruded by synvolcanic to late (post mineralization) intrusions.
The dominant structural fabric trends to the northeast with variable dips to the southeast. Associated regional folds are isoclinal with steeply plunging axes.
Mineralization dominated by pyrite and chalcopyrite disseminations and stockwork is expected to occur within the felsic clastic rocks as well as in the mafic margins. Iron-carbonate alteration is generally reported near known mineral occurrences.
The land held by Osisko is located east of and along strike of the same stratigraphy and structures hosting Eagle Hill’s Windfall Lake zone and Beaufield’s Zone 18 occurrence.
Data compilation and exploration program planning are currently underway for Osisko’s Urban Barry properties.
