Gold-Hawk Zone

DESCRIPTION

Historical production from 1989 to 1991 amounted to 8,300 tonnes at 13.95 g/t Au for 3,700 ounces of gold. (1)

(1) The listed grades for historical production are uncertain because some production records combine two or more deposits and it is not clear whether the reported grades represent recovered or in situ grades. In some cases, it is also unclear whether the reported numbers include waste from development workings. Numbers may therefore show some discrepancy depending on the source.

Zone Gold Hawk
Zone Gold Hawk

The Gold Hawk Zone consists of quartz-chalcopyrite veins with frequent occurrences of free gold. It is located 400 to 450 metres southwest of the Kierens deposit. An underground drift from the former Kierens mine provided access to the Gold Hawk Zone, where the most continuous vein, the No. 1 vein, was locally mined. This vein is hosted in komatiites near the contact with basalts. It is oriented NW-SE with a highly variable dip to the SW near the surface, which becomes more NE at depth.
